Jerry Heymann, Ph.D.

President, Heymann-Wolf Foundation

Originally from New Orleans, Mr. Heymann obtained his BA from Stanford University in History, followed by a Masters of Fine Arts and doctorate at Carnegie Mellon University (Theatre).  After completing his doctorate, he spent two years in Washington doing anti-Vietnam street theatre. At the end of the Viet Nam war, he moved to New York, where he taught acting at Lehman College and directed theatre at the LaMama Theatre. 

Over the course of 25 years on and off Broadway, Mr. Heymann directed 35 plays and musicals, until family circumstances made him owner and treasurer of a full-service department store in New Orleans. From the early 1990s Mr. Heymann concentrated on setting up and running a family foundation in New York. He has been involved with many non-profit boards, and has held offices on several boards Columbia Grammar and Prep School (former President), The Acting Company (former Treasurer), and the New York Theatre Workshop (former Treasurer).
