CHILD MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS
The REACH Institute seeks to bridge the gap between science and clinical practice by training clinicians, families, and all parties involved with a particular child to properly identify and validate key problem areas, adapt to those problems, empower the parties involved, and to then distribute, apply, and evaluate the success of a particular treatment. Child and adolescent mental health problems are effectively addressed through our evidence-based, scientifically proven psychotherapy training courses. All REACH training courses - both the psychotherapy and medication-pharmacology training courses, are evidence based. After you, as a health care or educational professional (whether you are a pediatrician, family physician, nurse practitioner, social worker, physician assistant, psychologist, or teacher) have mastered the skills within any of our training courses, you will be a more effective professional, and more able to foster the emotional and behavioral health of children and adolescents in your professional setting. If you work with children suffering from behavioral or emotional problems, consider enrolling in one of the REACH training courses, so that you can more effectively deal with emotional disturbances in children using evidence-based treatment methods. Not only do we offer hands-on training and coaching, but online and distance learning programs are also available. Because we are a non-profit organization and are partly funded by the generous contributions of donors, please inquire whether we have any free or low-cost continuing medical or nursing education (CME, CE, CNE) available at the time you inquire.
EMPOWERING PARENTS AND FAMILIES
As another method for helping parents and families directly, the REACH Institute offers the Parent Empowerment Program (PEP), also known as the "Parents as Agents of Change" program. The PEP program prepares and trains parent advocates to help parents develop effective relationships with providers or teachers, and offers insight into the range of mental health problems experienced by children and adolescents. For parents who are new to “the system”, the PEP program can be key in helping parents get their children the help they need.
