Expert Consensus on the Management of Antipsychotic Side Effects
REACH Staff Peter Jensen, M.D. Project Description This project seeks to help fill the current gaps in the research regarding the management of atypical antipsychotic medication side effects and polypharmacy (the treatment of children with one or more psychiatric medications simultaneously). During the first phase of this project, over 40 clinical and academic experts on pediatric psychopharmacology were surveyed regarding their views on this topic. Four expert consensus telephone conferences were then held to discuss and refine the findings. The results of this project have been finalized, and are currently incorporated into the T-MAY guideline (Treatment of Maladaptive Aggression in Youth), in press with the journal Pediatrics.
