Partner, Latham & Watkins, LLCÂ Board Member (Emeritus), and co-Founder of the REACH Institute and the K.I.D.S. Alliance
Ms. Marshall passed away on May 2, 2007.  She was instrumental in the founding of the REACH Institute, as well as the K.I.D.S. Alliance.  Both organizations focus on children who have experience adversity, trauma, and/or health problems.  A partner in the Chicago office of Latham & Watkins and an attorney with the firm for more than two decades, Ms. Marshall was also co-chair of the firm’s Products Liability and Mass Torts Practice Group, a former Chair of the Global Recruiting Committee and a former member of the Associates Committee.
Ms. Marshall graduated from the University of Michigan Law School, and began work at Latham & Watkins in Los Angeles in 1984, where she would stay for her entire career. She moved to Chicago with the firm in 1994. Â
According to Stephen Bowen, a managing partner at the firm, "She was a consummate professional, hugely talented but at the same time just a thoroughly lovely person."  In 2005, Mrs. Marshall started a program to address the mental health of children subjected to traumatic events. Inspired by the horrors of Hurricane Katrina, Mrs. Marshall felt compelled to do something for the children of the storm. She started the K.I.D.S (Kids in Disaster Situations) Alliance, as well as the REACH Institute with other lawyers and Dr. Peter S. Jensen, MD, then at the Center for Advancement of Children's Mental Health at Columbia University.Â
Ms. Marshall was survived by her husband and four children; her parents, and four brothers. |
