Help REACH Update
Mental Health Care
For America’s Youth
REACH needs financial assistance to train those who provide for the mental help of America’s youth in the newest evidence-based treatment tools. We collect no membership dues, receive no government funds and rely solely on individuals and foundations that appreciate the importance of what we do. In these difficult economic times, it is increasingly difficult to do what we must!
We must help Individuals and institutions that care for children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems. They are too few (only 15,000 trained specialists for nearly 13 million children) and unable to keep up with the discovery of evidence-based treatments. Each year they fall further and further behind advances in proven treatments. The sad and unavoidable consequence is that the benefits of these advances are postponed for the children who need them today.
Funds are needed to expand training for these practitioners to help broaden the use of the newest and best treatment tools. We appeal to you to help REACH achieve this goal. The return for your donation will be measured by measurable gains toward optimal care for our children.
Please be assured that your investment (contribution) in REACH will be used to:
1) |
Help underwrite development costs of new trainings in the latest treatments; |
2) |
Lower enrollment fees to attract more training participants; and |
3) |
Fund program scholarships for 50 or more trainees per year. |
Fees for REACH training programs only cover their actual costs. Even so, many care givers on the front lines of children’s mental health are of modest means and work in poor neighborhoods where the needs are greatest. To provide training to enhance their skills, we must partner with others to help pay their way. Without our help, their alternatives are likely to be inadequate weekend programs that lack up-to-date content and ongoing consultations real-world applications.
As a non-profit organization, REACH holds tight reins on its operational costs and begins each year with a zero- based budget. This constrains our ability to develop, promote and expand our “reach.” Nevertheless, we persevere knowing the importance of REACH’s mission and following the selfless commitment of our founder, Peter S. Jensen, MD. A world renowned child psychiatrist in great demand, Peter serves as our president and CEO without pay. Please donate what you can to help us hasten healing for millions of children.
