I am so grateful for the REACH program! While I was one of the few non MD's as a psychiatric nurse practitioner in a primary pediatric setting I found the experience invaluable. … .The REACH program was a well designed program from a neurodevelopmental and multidimensional perspective. I became much more comfortable with managing ADHD, aggression, mood disorders, anxiety and autism in a primary care setting after your program. The teleconferencing sessions offered an excellent forum to discuss complicated cases from many perspectives - pediatric, psychiatric, developmental and neurological.
Patty Barfield, APRN-BC PMHNP
Prior to REACH's PPP training, I would occasionally prescribe antidepressant and antianxiety medications with discomfort and only with concurrent therapy from a mental health provider. Presently, I feel exceedingly comfortable treating my adolescent patients with medication that they require, as well as with providing basic counseling in my office. It is very rewarding to begin with a teenager in tears, and end with one smiling and hugging me in thanks!
